How it works

From nothing to answering calls in five minutes

There's no model to train, no flowchart to draw and no integration to build. You describe your business, hand over the documents you already have, and switch a channel on.

1

Describe your business in plain words

Tell the setup wizard what you do — "we're a two-chair dental practice in Bristol, open Monday to Friday" is enough to start. Agentra drafts the assistant's instructions, greeting and tone from that, and you can edit any of it afterwards.

Takes about a minute. Nothing here is permanent — you can rewrite the instructions at any point.

2

Upload the documents you already have

Your price list, opening hours, service descriptions, cancellation policy. Agentra splits each document into passages and indexes them, so the assistant can search your material before answering rather than guessing from a general-purpose model.

Indexing runs in the background — a typical price list is ready in under a minute. You'll see each document's status as it processes.

3

Try to catch it out in the playground

Before anyone else talks to it, you do. Ask the awkward questions — the edge-case pricing, the thing that isn't in the documents — and check it either answers correctly or admits it doesn't know. The playground shows which passages it drew on for each answer.

This is the step worth spending time on. If it can't answer something, add the missing document and try again.

4

Switch on a channel

Copy one script tag onto your website for web chat, or connect a phone number or WhatsApp number. The assistant is live the moment the channel is connected — same brain, same documents, whichever door the customer comes through.

Start with web chat if you want to watch it work before it answers your phone.

5

Read the transcripts and tighten it up

Every conversation lands in your Inbox. Skim them for the first week: you'll spot the two or three questions your documents don't cover yet, add them, and the assistant improves without any retraining.

Most businesses stop needing to check in after the first fortnight.

Questions

The things people ask first

Do I need a developer?

No. The one technical step is pasting a script tag into your website, and most site builders have a field for exactly that. Everything else happens in the dashboard.

Will it make things up?

It searches your documents before answering and is instructed to escalate rather than speculate. That's why the playground step matters — it's where you confirm that behaviour on your own content before customers see it.

What happens to calls it can't handle?

It hands off to your team with the transcript attached, rather than dead-ending the caller. You decide which topics always go to a human.

Can I keep my existing phone number?

Yes — you can forward your current number to the assistant, so nothing changes for customers who already have your number saved.

Can I run more than one assistant?

Yes. Separate locations, brands or languages can each have their own assistant with their own documents. How many you can run depends on your plan.

What if I want to turn it off?

Disconnect the channel and it stops answering immediately. Your documents and transcripts stay in your workspace.

Ready to try the five minutes?

No credit card needed to build an assistant and test it in the playground.
